OUR INSPIRATION
How all this magic started was back in the year 2000, when my first prized Maine Coon kitty – Rhett, always found so much joy with catnip. I realized then that with a name like Rhett, only the best product would do. I did not like the presentation on any other products and thought that not only the product would have to be incredible, but the package had to be decadent as well. I brainstormed for months and _ thought about what catnip meant to me as well as to my cat, Rhett.  In my eyes, catnip gives most cats the feeling of bubbly and bounce, and thus I came up with the name KITTY CHARDONNAY!

OUR MISSION
To bring felines as much joy and pleasure as they do us while presenting a decadent quality product you can be proud to display on any table.

WHAT IS CATNIP?
If you have a cat, there’s a good chance you’ve witnessed firsthand one of the great feline mysteries known as the “catnip response.” When presented with the leaves of Nepatia cataria, most domestic cats will engage in a variety of behaviors, including chin rubbing, rhythmic kicking with their back feet, sniffing, licking and chewing the plant, and rolling onto their sides. The reaction can last from about 5 to 15 minutes, after which point the cat will lose interest and walk away. For the next couple of hours, the cat will  be immune to the herb’s effects - but don’t be surprised when the cat returns to repeat the cycle.

What gives? Even scientists don’t fully understand why felines respond to catnip the way they do. They do know, however, that this inherited reaction is induced by a chemical in the herb called transnepetalactone. Kittens are largely unaffected by catnip, and even those who are genetically predisposed won’t feel a real thrill until they’re at least six to eight weeks of age. Older cats seem to be less sensitive to the herb as well. But best of all, this terrific treat is not toxic and it’s effects will not harm your pet.

If your kitty goes kooky for catnip, you’re in luck, because there’s a wide variety of catnip products out there. Catnip mice and other catnip-stuffed toys are classic feline favorites, and can be a fun and effective part of a program to keep more sedentary pets active and exercised. Do take care to avoid toys with bells or other small parts that your cat  could accidentally swallow or choke on. You can also simply drop a few tablespoons of loose catnip into a dish, or stuff some loose catnip into a small sock, tie it tightly and offer it to your kitty during playtime. Note that stepping on the sock will help release the herb’s active ingredients. Loose catnip can be rubbed on scratching posts to attract an animal’s interest, and is particularly effective if your kitty tends to scratch in inappropriate places and needs redirected to the scratching post. Keep in mind that the herb does go stale after a few months, so you’ll want to replace any toys or loose herbs that have lost their zip.
Catnip is grown in various climates and altitudes. However, high elevations produce the most potent catnip, which is something to keep in mind when you buy this feline treat.

OUR PRODUCT:
Our product is “HIGH GROWN": To break that down, it simply means the plants were raised at a higher altitude. High grown catnip is cultivated adjacent to the Canadian Rockies. Higher latitude and longer growing days provide the perfect growing environment for plants to have higher oil content.   The end result is a product with especially high oil content which  gives your feline optimal enjoyment.
High grown premium catnip leaves with blossoms are the finest available!
